‘Rules are rules, nothing can be done now’, said UWW chief on Vinesh’s disqualification

India suffered a major setback in the Paris Olympics. For the first time in the history of India, a female wrestler reached the final of the Olympics and the gold medal was just a step away, but 100 grams of extra weight overshadowed the dreams of 140 crore Indians. The Olympic Association declared wrestler Vinesh Phogat ineligible to play the final match of women’s wrestling in the 50 kg category. The whole country is shocked by this. Various types of reactions are coming to the fore.

Meanwhile, the statement of the President of International Wrestling Federation (UWW), Nenad Lalovic has also come. He said that nothing can be done in this. We have to respect the rules. I am very sad about what happened to him. His weight was very little more, but rules are rules and the method is public. The way people are talking apart from the rules, it is not possible. Those who come to participate in the sport, they know about the rules. Now they have a chance for the next time. At the moment, I do not think that anything can happen this time.

Let us tell you that when Vinesh went for the mandatory weighing process before the gold medal match, her weight was found to be 100 grams more. Due to this, she was excluded from the competition. From the Indian Wrestling Association to the Olympic Association, everyone raised objections but now hopes have been shattered. Meanwhile, questions are being raised as to how this happened. The opposition is also constantly raising questions about this. At the same time, the Sports Minister also gave a statement in Parliament regarding this and told the whole matter.

This is how I tried to lose weight

On Tuesday night, Vinesh weighed 52 kg, she tried to reduce her weight by cycling, skipping etc., but she could not succeed. Gagan Narang, Dinshaw Pardiwala, her husband, physio, medical staff, IOA officials, people present in India, OGQ (Olympic Gold Quest) worked overnight to reduce her weight. According to the information – Dr. Pardiwala even said that we cannot put her life in danger.

Media reports have also revealed that she tried everything possible. Vinesh was in pain as her body was breaking down, she was in the sauna this morning in a last attempt. Vinesh is in the Olympic Village Polyclinic. She had reached the final of 50 kg wrestling. On the second day of the event, Vinesh’s weight was found to be 100 grams more in the 50 kg category.
