Ruckus over rape of a minor girl in Ghaziabad, lathicharge on the crowd protesting outside the police station

A case of rape of a minor girl has come to light in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The police have arrested the accused. The accused is said to be from another community. A large number of people gathered outside the police station to protest against the incident and protested late on Thursday evening. Angry people protested outside the police station with a banner saying ‘Hang the rapists’. Seeing the situation deteriorating, the police lathi-charged the protesters and drove them away from outside the police station.

The incident is said to have happened on Wednesday evening. In Link Road police station area, the minor girl had gone out of her house for some work. Then the accused, who works as a scrap dealer nearby, entered the house from the back door and made the minor smell something and then raped her. The accused also beat up the victim.

After the matter came to light, the people of the area got angry and vandalized the junk shop and the rickshaws, carts and e-rickshaws parked on the road. Since this matter was related to two communities, people of Hindu organizations also expressed their displeasure and protested fiercely outside the police station.

Additional Commissioner Dinesh Kumar P said that the situation at the spot is now under control. The police took immediate action on the basis of the information and registered a case and sent the accused to jail. Some people are suspecting that more people may be involved in this incident. No such names have been given nor any evidence has been provided. At present, the police is taking the matter seriously.
