Ruckus in Lok Sabha after Abhishek Banerjee’s open challenge, TMC MPs clash with Speaker

During the discussion on the budget in Parliament, a statement by Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP from Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha seat of West Bengal Abhishek Banerjee created a ruckus. Abhishek Banerjee called the budget anti-people and said that it has been prepared for two allies. He also surrounded the government by referring to the election slogans of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Abhishek Banerjee said that before coming to power in 2014, BJP had promised good days. But what did they do after coming to power? Referring to the Global Hunger Index, he said that if they had paid attention to the real issues, then today India would not have been at number 111 in the list of 125 countries.

Abhishek Banerjee, referring to the statement of the leader of opposition in the Bengal assembly, said that he used to say Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. His MLAs are saying – those who are with us, we are with them. The failed finance minister of this failed government has also proved this in the budget. Along with counting the statistics of crimes against Dalits, he also raised questions about the order to reveal the names of shop owners and staff on the Kanwar Yatra route and asked in a questioning tone who is the CM in UP?

He also challenged anyone to name a Muslim member from the BJP in the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha or any state assembly. Abhishek Banerjee also questioned the Modi government on the issue of employment and said – Modiji’s third time, youth still unemployed. During his address, Abhishek Banerjee said on a member’s comment from the Treasury Bench that the minister has to answer the questions I am asking. I challenge them, if they have the courage, they should come on any channel, tell me the time and I will come.

On this, Speaker Om Birla interrupted him and said, do not challenge in the House. Do not challenge here. Challenge outside. After this, Abhishek started speaking again. A member from the Treasury Bench said something on his reading. On this, Abhishek said that he should go and tell his leader who speaks after reading. On this, the Speaker interrupted him again and said that you should say your thing, do not talk about the leader.
