Rohtak: Doctor kidnapped a medical student and beat her up badly, police arrested him

Amidst nationwide protests over the rape and murder of a female trainee doctor at Kolkata Medical College, a case of assault on a medical student has come to light in Rohtak, Haryana. After the case came to light, the Rohtak-based Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) has expelled the accused resident doctor who is pursuing MD in Anatomy.

The police has taken immediate action in the case of assault on a medical student and arrested the accused doctor. The accused is being questioned thoroughly. A high-level investigation is being conducted keeping in mind every aspect of the case.

Rohtak’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Virendra Singh said that a PGIMS BDS student complained about being assaulted last night. The police team and senior officials of PGIMS immediately reached the spot and immediately taking cognizance of the matter, an FIR was registered against the accused youth in the PGIMS police station. Along with counseling the student in front of her family and lawyer, a medical examination of the student was also conducted.

The statement of the victim student has been recorded before the magistrate. In the complaint, the victim girl said that on August 16, the accused doctor kidnapped her from PGIMS and took her to Ambala and Chandigarh and during this time the accused tortured her as well as beat her.

Initial investigation revealed that both the victim and the accused doctor belong to PGIMS. The victim is studying BDS while the accused doctor teaches anatomy. Both have known each other for about 5-6 months. No case of sexual harassment/rape has come to light so far in the girl’s statement and investigation.

Seeing the seriousness of the case, the police conducted a raid and arrested the accused doctor and he will be presented in the court tomorrow. The case is being investigated thoroughly. The police is constantly in touch with the victim and her family and she is being given all possible help.
