Rohan Jaitley New BCCI Secretary: Who is Rohan Jaitley? Who can take over the throne of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah

Rohan Jaitley new BCCI secretary: The status of BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) secretary Jay Shah has increased further. He has been elected unopposed as the next chairman of ICC (International Cricket Council). Jay Shah has also created a record by assuming this post at the age of 35, he is the oldest person to become ICC chairman.

Now since Jay Shah will be seen working in the ICC, the question is who can become the secretary of BCCI in his place. Rohan Jaitley’s name is at the forefront in this race.

Jay Shah will replace the current ICC chairman Greg Barclay on December 1 this year. 62-year-old Barclay of New Zealand had decided not to contest for the third consecutive time. In such a situation, Home Minister Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah will now have to leave the post of BCCI secretary, which he had been holding since 2019.

Who is Rohan Jaitley?
After Jai Shah, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley is likely to become the next BCCI Secretary. Jaitley is also active in cricket administration. In 2023, he was re-elected unopposed as the President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). He first became the President of DDCA in 2020. Rohan Jaitley is the son of veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader Arun Jaitley. Rohan has a law degree from India and a Master of Laws (LLM) from Cornell University.

Jaitley is a practicing lawyer who argues cases in the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court. In March 2024, Rohan was appointed as the Central Government’s standing counsel in the Delhi High Court.

Why is Rohan Jaitley’s claim strong?
1. Rohan is the son of former BJP stalwart Arun Jaitley. Arun Jaitley has a good influence in BCCI, due to which Rohan also has a strong hold.
2. Rohan Jaitley has been the President of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) twice. Because of this, he is an experienced sports administrator. Under his leadership, Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium hosted 5 matches of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
3. Delhi Premier League (DPL) was organized under the leadership of Rohan Jaitley. Many star cricketers who play domestic cricket for Delhi are included in it. These include Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, Yash Dhull, Ayush Badoni, Lalit Yadav.
