The Road Safety Unit of the Transport Department has given several suggestions to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The unit has suggested changes in the software of the cameras installed on the expressway so that heavy fines can be imposed on drivers who break their lanes. A provision is being made to impose fines on those who break lanes on Agra Expressway and other expressways.

According to the information, there are three vehicle lanes on the expressway. Heavy vehicles drive on the left lane, in which buses, trucks and other heavy vehicles ply. While cars and light vehicles are driven in the middle lane.

At the same time, the third lane is left empty and if someone wants to overtake, he can do so. But a provision for a heavy penalty is being made for not doing so. Till now, a fine of Rs 2,000 is imposed for over speeding and Rs 1,000 for not wearing a seat belt. But now, by changing the software, a fine of Rs 1,000 will be imposed for changing lanes and not wearing a seat belt and Rs 2,000 for changing lanes. For this, the software is being modified with cameras. A decision will be taken on this soon.
