Rishi Panchami 2024: Today is Rishi Panchami. Every year Rishi Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Bhado month. There are beliefs that by fasting and worshipping on this day, one can atone for the mistakes committed knowingly or unknowingly. On the day of Rishi Panchami, people worship the Sapta Rishis and after getting their blessings, pray for forgiveness of their sins. In the scriptures, the names of these Sapta Rishis are Kashyap, Atri, Bharadwaj, Vishwamitra, Gautam, Jamadagni and Vashishtha.
Rishi Panchami Date
According to the Hindu calendar, this year the Panchami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month will start on 7th September at 05:37 pm and will end on 8th September at 07:58 pm. Due to Udaya Tithi, Rishi Panchami fast will be observed on 8th September i.e. today.
Method of worship of Rishi Panchami
On the day of Rishi Panchami, after taking a bath in the morning, wear clean and light yellow clothes. Then place a photo or statue of the Sapta Rishis on a wooden stand. Also keep a vessel filled with water with this stand. Offer incense, lamps, fruits, flowers, sweets and naivedya to the Sapta Rishis. After this, apologize to the Sapta Rishis for your mistakes and take a pledge to help others. Finally, perform the Aarti of the Sapta Rishis and listen to the Vrat Katha. Then distribute the offerings made to the Rishis as Prasad. After this, touch the feet of your elders and take their blessings.
Rishi Panchami Puja Mantra
1. Kashyapotri, Bhardwaj, Vishwamitra and Gautam.
Jamadagni and Vasishtha are mentioned as seven sages.
May all sins be destroyed and may they accept your salutations.
2. Let them take half of what I have given them, and be always satisfied with me.
Rishi Panchami Aarti
Shri Hari Har Guru Ganpati, everyone concentrate on me.
Shri Gautam, I will describe the group of sages adorned with ornaments.
