Rioters broke the statues related to Pakistan’s surrender in Bangladesh, Tharoor said – they are not worthy of forgiveness

After the political upheaval and coup in Bangladesh, various types of pictures are coming out from different parts of the country. On one hand, hundreds of deaths occurred in the country after chaos spread, while on the other hand, protesters targeted national monuments. Now another such case has come to light, where the national monument has been damaged. The statues present at the 1971 Shaheed Memorial site located in Mujibnagar have been broken. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has expressed concern over this incident and has requested the interim government of Bangladesh to maintain law and order.

Shashi Tharoor said in his social media post, “It is sad to see such pictures of the destruction of statues located in the Shaheed Memorial Complex in Mujibnagar in 1971 by anti-India miscreants. This incident has happened after the outrageous attacks on Indian cultural centers, temples and Hindu homes in many places, while there have also been reports of Muslim citizens protecting other minority homes and places of worship.

Shashi Tharoor further said that the agenda of some agitators is very clear. It is necessary that Mohammad Yunus and his interim government take immediate steps to restore law and order in the interest of all Bangladeshis and people of every religion. India stands with the people of Bangladesh in this turbulent time, but such anarchy can never be forgiven.
