RFK Jr.’s fight to get off the ballot is causing chaos in North Carolina

Mail-in voting for North Carolina, a critical swing state, may be delayed because former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is fighting to have his name removed from the ballot.

WRAL reports Ballots were scheduled to begin going out Friday — the state’s deadline. But the North Carolina Court of Appeals ordered officials to stop reprinting fresh ballots without Kennedy’s name.

Ballot Overhaul – Key to Kennedy’s Plan Increases Donald Trump’s chances against Kamala Harris – could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and result in weeks of delays, WRAL reports.

It’s the latest twist in a long back-and-forth legal process in North Carolina — with more challenges likely to come.

Kennedy was first asked to withdraw from the North Carolina mail-in ballot Dropped out of the race and endorsed Trump – which was after many counties had already started printing their ballots.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) refused, so he sued.

On Thursday, the judge sided with the NCSBE and ruled that Kennedy’s name would stand. But on Friday, the North Carolina Court of Appeals reversed that decision.

NCSBE can still appeal.

The agency provided Business Insider with a memo addressed to county election directors from its general counsel, Paul Cox. The memo said NCSBE attorneys are reviewing the matter but no decision has been made on the appeal.

The memo asked directors not to send any ballots, but to continue holding existing ballots.

The Kennedy campaign did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for comment.

While his position in North Carolina is up in the air, similar requests by Kennedy to be removed from the ballot in the swing states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Colorado. has been rejected.

But a Michigan appeals court overturned the denial and ordered RFK Jr. off the ballot. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson plans to appeal that ruling. NBC News reported.
