Relief and rescue operation continues

Apart from this, four teams of NDRF, four columns of Army, one team of Navy, three units of Coast Guard, fire services, state police local emergency response team and about 1,200 personnel are working 24 hours in the relief and rescue operation. An amount of Rs 145 crore has also been provided to the state government. This information was presented before the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday by Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai.

Dog squad is also involved in the search operation

He told the House that Army’s dog squad has also been deployed in the rescue and search operation. Apart from this, two contingents of Army’s DC Central Kannur have also been deployed. Two contingents of Trivandrum’s 91 Infantry Brigade have been dispatched. Two helicopters of the Indian Army and one Navy helicopter are specially engaged in the rescue operation. Army’s medical team is also present at the spot and is providing medical treatment to the injured.

24 hour monitoring

He said that Indian Navy ship has been deployed to provide rescue and land movement on the other side of the damaged bridge. Additional resources are being sent to the affected areas. Both the control rooms of the Home Ministry are monitoring 24 hours and every possible help is being provided to the state. On July 31, an amount of Rs 145 crore has been provided to the state government from the State Disaster Response Fund.

What did Nityanand Rai say?

Union Minister of State Nityanand Rai said that earlier there was a super cyclone in which 10 thousand people died. Today we have reached the level of zero deaths. This is the effect of the work being done for disaster management under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the use of technology, the amount being given for disaster management. Various organizations of the Government of India have done the work of planting trees. Paramilitary forces have also done the work of planting trees in record numbers. India’s disaster management is such that it is trusted not only by the country but also abroad. At the time of disaster in many countries, whether it is an earthquake or any other disaster, even then India has come forward to help them enthusiastically.

The Minister of State for Home said that immediately after the landslide incident in Wayanad, Kerala, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister contacted the state government and all the help that the Center can provide is being provided. According to the latest information, 133 bodies have been recovered from the debris by relief workers. This death toll may increase. On the instructions of the Prime Minister, Union Minister George Kurien has reached the spot. He is constantly in touch with the Chief Minister and giving information. The Prime Minister is also taking updates from him. Immediately after the incident, teams of NDRF, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard and Navy are engaged in search and rescue operations.
