Republican Liz Cheney endorsed Harris, citing the ‘threat’ of a Trump victory

Former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney has said she is endorsing Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris for president in the November election.

Cheney said Wednesday he would vote Harris “Because of its danger Donald Trump Pose” as she cited her credentials as “a conservative, someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution”.

She became one of the Republican contender’s fiercest critics after his perceived inaction as president and for fanning the flames on January 6, 2021, when thousands of his supporters stormed the US Capitol in an attempt to overturn his election defeat.

Cheney came out to Harris at an event at Duke University in North Carolina, according to a video of her comments, posted on social media platform X.

Cheney joins other Republicans, such as fellow Jan. 6 committee members Adam Kinzinger and Denver Riggleman, both former congressmen, in supporting Harris.

More than 200 Bush administration alumni and the former Republican presidential campaigns of the late Senator John McCain and Senator Mitt Romney also announced their support for Harris last week.

Asked for comment, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung replied: “Who is Liz Cheney and what does she do?”
