Relief from the court gave strength to AAP, but Kejriwal’s legal and political challenges do not seem to stop

The last few days have been full of relief for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). It started when former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia got bail after a long time in the alleged liquor scam case. The party’s former media chief Vijay Nair also got released after being in jail for 23 months in this case. Sanjay Singh has also got relief from the court. At the same time, recently Arvind Kejriwal’s trusted aide Bibhav Kumar has also got bail. The party has got a new energy from the recent relief to the leaders.

Getting relief from the court at the ‘right time’

AAP has made its identity on the anti-corruption agenda. But after many leaders were booked in corruption cases, questions were also raised on the party. But despite these challenges, AAP leaders are getting relief from the courts. This judicial relief is being given at a time when Delhi Assembly elections are to be held early next year. This time is very special for AAP. Apart from this, AAP is also eyeing the Haryana Assembly elections. Haryana is the home state of Arvind Kejriwal.

According to sources, there is also talk of a possible alliance between AAP and Congress party in Haryana. An AAP-Congress alliance can strengthen the electoral outlook of both parties in Haryana. While AAP’s anti-corruption stance attracts urban and young voters, Congress has a strong hold in other demographics.

Legal battles still to come

However, the legal battles are not over for Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). On the same day that Vijay Nair and Bibhav Kumar were given relief, Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan was arrested. Amanatullah Khan is considered the most prominent minority face of the party. The noose around Amanatullah could be a big challenge for the party, especially in Muslim-dominated constituencies where Khan is believed to have influence. For Arvind Kejriwal, the liquor policy case is just one of many legal hurdles. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is also investigating other cases, including the renovation of the chief minister’s bungalows.

So, while the recent legal victories are important, they are not the end of AAP’s problems. The big question now is whether AAP will be able to rebuild its image and political effectiveness? These legal victories give the party a fighting chance, but it is necessary to restore trust and self-confidence among the public. For this, it remains to be seen what kind of strategy the party employs.
