Jagannath Gemstone Store , The Ratna Bhandar of Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha will reopen today. This Ratna Bhandar is full of priceless treasures. These include precious gems and jewellery, statues of rare metals, gold and silver coins, crowns and other ornaments. After a long gap of 46 years, the Ratna Bhandar was opened on 14 July to assess these treasures. However, it was again closed for two days after the lock inside was broken and opened. The Ratna Bhandar will be opened again on Thursday and will be shifted.
The price will not be assessed
During the counting of gems, information about the treasure will be revealed to the people one by one. The wealth of Ratna Bhandar will also be accounted for. However, keeping in mind devotion and security, their value will not be estimated. Ratna Bhandar is the repository of gold and silver ornaments and coins offered by kings, Maharajas and other devotees with devotion in the temple of Lord Jagannath.
It took 72 days to count the jewellery
Earlier in 1978, it took 72 days to count the gems and jewellery in the treasury. In 1978, there were about 140 kg of gold jewellery in the Ratna Bhandar. Precious stones were embedded in these jewellery. There were also about 256 kg of silver utensils. According to the affidavit given by the Jagannath Temple administration in the High Court, there are three chambers in the Ratna Bhandar. According to the Ratna Bhandar Committee, the auspicious time to open the temple treasury on Thursday is from 9:51 am to 12:25 pm.

The team inspecting the Ratna Bhandar says that the basement and the Ratna Bhandar rooms are in a dilapidated condition. They need to be maintained and repaired. This entire process may take 60 to 70 days. When the Ratna Bhandar was opened on July 14, the entire process was video recorded. The information about the jewellery has been kept confidential for now. The committee will submit its report to the Odisha government and the High Court. The last attempt to open the Ratna Bhandar was made in 2018 but the key was not found at that time. People of the temple administration say that no one can open the Ratna Bhandar unless Lord Jagannath himself wishes.
