A case of molestation of a female junior doctor has come to light in Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. There is anger among the doctors after this incident. However, the accused has been arrested by the police.
According to the information, this incident of molestation has happened with a junior resident (non-academic) of the Oncology department of RIMS. The molestation has happened inside the lift. The incident happened when the junior resident doctor was going to report for her duty.
The accused was arrested after the FIR
Let us tell you that after the incident, the accused was caught in time. He has been sent to Bariatu police station from the Integrated Control Room. After the FIR, the accused has also been arrested.
The strike was postponed after the explanation
There is resentment among doctors after the incident that took place in RIMS after the Kolkata incident. After the incident, the doctors had gone on a pen down strike. However, after talks and assurances between the junior doctors and the RIMS management, the junior doctors postponed the pen down strike.
Confidence in deployment of 100 soldiers
RIMS hospital management has assured the junior doctors that liftmen will be reinstated in every lift. Along with this, armed police will also be deployed in every ward. At least 100 armed police personnel will be deployed in the entire hospital.
Doctors back to work
In fact, after this incident, Dr Ajit had written a letter to the RIMS management demanding full security. After the assurance from the management, the doctors have postponed the strike. After getting the assurance, the doctors have returned to work again.
What happened in the Kolkata incident?
Earlier, the rape and murder of a lady doctor in Kolkata took place on the night of 8-9 August 2024. It was revealed when the body of a trainee doctor was found from Kolkata’s Radha Govindkar Medical College. This doctor was 31 years old, who was on night duty with three other doctors that day. Two of these doctors were from the Chest Medicine Department, one was a trainee. One employee was from the house staff of the hospital. That night all these doctors and employees had dinner together.
The accused was a civic volunteer
After this, the lady doctor went to the seminar hall of the hospital to sleep at around 2 o’clock in the night. It is alleged that after this the accused named Sanjay Roy came to this seminar hall from the back door and first raped this lady doctor and then killed her. The biggest thing is that this accused was neither from the hospital staff, nor was he a relative of any patient. He used to work as a civic volunteer for Kolkata Police.
