Ran away with handcuffs, drowned in a pond… Full story of the death of a rape accused in Assam, questions are being raised

An accused in the Nagaon gangrape case in Assam has died. According to the police, the accused fell into a pond while trying to escape from police custody. The accused, Tafazul Islam, was said to be the main accused in this case. The police was taking the accused to the crime scene at 4 am. After this incident, questions are being raised whether this gangrape accused died by drowning or was drowned. Because when the accused drowned, he was with the police. The police was responsible for his safety, but the police is saying that he tried to escape and died by drowning in the pond.

In fact, Assam CM Himanta had said a day earlier, i.e. on 23 August, that the government should appear aggressive in such cases. Not even 24 hours had passed since his statement that this incident happened.

These questions arose after the death of the accused

This theory of drowning or being drowned is being widely discussed in Assam, but no one is daring to raise questions. He was handcuffed in police custody, but he jumped into the pond. In such a situation, the question is also about the police, was the police not alert? Why was the police taking him at 4 am? If he was handcuffed, how did he jump into the water? If he jumped into the water, why did the policemen not immediately jump into the water and save his life? The accused was accused of a famous gang rape case of the state. It was the duty of the police to get him punished.

People are angry about Tafazul Islam

However, people are happy that the accused Tafazul Islam has died. The legal battle in this case was still pending, but people are so angry with Tafazul Islam that they are not even ready to attend his funeral, nor are they ready to give him a place in the cemetery for burial.

We follow zero tolerance policy: CM Himanta

It is surprising that the accused of such a big scandal died under suspicious circumstances. From the leaders of both the major parties to the local people, everyone is expressing happiness over this death. Assam CM Himanta had assured justice yesterday and said that no accused will be spared. At the same time, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said in this case today that an accused tried to run away and he drowned in the pond and died. If this incident is compared with the Kolkata incident, then we want to make it clear that in case of any incident in Assam, the police takes immediate action and catches the criminal. In such incidents, we adopt a zero tolerance policy.
