The army has foiled an infiltration attempt on the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, an encounter has started between terrorists and security forces in Rajouri district as well. According to sources, 2 to 3 terrorists are hiding in Rajouri. Encounters are going on at two places in Kupwara district. The first encounter started in Tangdhar sector on Wednesday evening, where a large-scale operation was launched after initial firing.
Late Wednesday night, alert soldiers of 57 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) spotted a group of three to four terrorists in Machil sector of Kupwara. After this, the security forces challenged them, leading to heavy firing between the two sides. An encounter between terrorists and security forces is also reported in Rajouri district, where security forces have surrounded the terrorists and search operations are going on in the area.
Infiltration attempt foiled in Machil sector of Kupwara:
Security forces foiled an infiltration attempt by a group of terrorists in Machil sector of Kupwara district late Wednesday evening. Officials said that based on specific intelligence, soldiers of 57 Rashtriya Rifles and 53 Infantry Brigade launched an operation in Kamkari area of Machhil sector.
He said, “At around 19:40, movement of infiltrating terrorists was observed, after which firing started.” At present the operation is underway, and more information is awaited.
Encounter in Tangdhar, Kupwara:
An encounter is going on between terrorists and security forces in Tangdhar area of Kupwara district. In this area too, security forces have surrounded the terrorists and firing is going on.
Encounter in Lathi village, Rajouri:
An encounter is also going on between terrorists and security forces in Lathi village of Rajouri district. Security forces have cordoned off the area and an intensive search operation is being carried out to catch the terrorists.
