Here, the second highest rainfall has been recorded in July so far and a total of more than 150 cm of rain has been recorded.

In Pune, a rescue operation was conducted for 70 people on Thursday. All the people were stranded after water filled in the residential area. When the fire department got the news, the team reached the affected areas and started a rescue operation with the help of boats. The army has taken charge in Ekta Nagar of Pune. Ekta Nagar of Pune is submerged in water. The situation here is bad since last night. There is no electricity and water. So far four people have died.

Army deployed for rescue in Pune

Several contingents of the Indian Army have been deployed to evacuate the affected people in Pune and take them to safer places. So far, about 400 people have been evacuated. Officials said that two contingents of the Army have been deployed in the Sinhagad Road area, which is badly affected by the floods. Apart from this, teams of NDRF, fire brigade as well as district and city disaster management cells have also been deployed to carry out relief operations. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said that if needed, people affected by the rains will be airlifted to Pune.

Bhide Bridge and APMC Market submerged in water

The roads of Bavdhan area of ​​Pune have turned into drains. The pictures of the submerged Bhide Bridge are another example of nature’s fury in the city. The drone pictures of Pune submerged in rain and flood water are shocking. After the heavy rain, the flood water has entered the metro station as well. Bhide Bridge has submerged. Roads, colonies, everywhere is flooded with water. The APMC market is flooded with water. Omkareshwar temple on the banks of Mutha river has almost submerged.

Seeing the deteriorating situation after the rain, Deputy CM and Minister in-charge Ajit Pawar are holding continuous meetings. The district administration has declared a holiday in schools in view of the flood situation. Relief and rescue operations are being intensified.

960 years old Shiv temple filled with water

Rainwater has filled the 960-year-old Shiva temple in Ambarnath, Maharashtra. Due to this, the idol and Shivling present in the temple have drowned. Actually, the Waldhuni river flows near the Shiva temple. Due to heavy rains, its water flow has also increased. It has been raining heavily in Ambarnath taluka for the last two days and due to this the rivers and drains are in spate. If the rain continues, there is a possibility of flooding in the city.

Airlines issued advisory

Several airlines, including Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet, have issued advisories informing passengers that some of their flights to Mumbai have been delayed and rerouted due to heavy rains. Air India said in a post on X, “Flight operations are being affected due to heavy rains in Mumbai and as a result some of our flights have been cancelled and diverted. Air India is offering a full refund or one-time complimentary rescheduling for confirmed bookings for travel on July 25, 2024.”

Similarly, IndiGo also issued a statement on X, advising passengers to check their flight status before leaving for the airport. IndiGo said in its statement on X, “Due to continuous and heavy rains in Mumbai, flight schedules are getting delayed from time to time. Although we try to give you real-time updates, we request you to check your flight status before leaving for the airport.”

Deputy CM Ajit Pawar took stock of the situation

State Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar took stock of the situation and spoke to divisional commissioners and other officials of Mumbai, Pune and Thane over the phone and instructed them to maintain vigilance and carry out rescue and relief operations. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation also appealed to Mumbaikars in a post on X to avoid stepping out of Mumbai in view of the ‘red alert’ issued till Friday morning. Apart from this, a holiday has been declared in all schools and colleges in the city as the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in Mumbai and neighboring Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts.
