Rain wreaked havoc in these states including Maharashtra-Gujarat, rivers in spate, know IMD’s update on weather

Torrential rains are continuing in many states of the country, due to which many areas are affected by floods and life has become disrupted. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rains in some parts of Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh today i.e. on 28th July.

Delhi’s climate

Heavy rains are continuing in the country’s capital Delhi, which has given relief to the people from the humid heat. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Delhi today i.e. on 28th July. However, after the rain in Delhi, waterlogging was seen at many places. According to IMD, the maximum temperature of Delhi can remain between 32 to 36 degree Celsius this whole week and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 25 to 29 degree Celsius.

According to weather forecasting agency Skymet, during the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with heavy rain at some places is possible over East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, parts of Western Himalayas, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Konkan and Goa, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

On the other hand, light to moderate rain is possible in Jharkhand, West Bengal, Northeast India, some parts of Odisha, Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Kerala, Lakshadweep, eastern parts of Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir. Apart from this, light rain is possible in Western Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep.

According to weather forecasting agency Skymet, the deep low pressure area formed over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal is now located over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha. The cyclonic circulation associated with it extends up to 7.6 km above sea level and is tilted southwestwards with height. It is likely to move west-northwestwards during the next 24 hours.

At the same time, the monsoon trough is active and close to its normal position. It is likely to remain close to its normal position during the next 4 to 5 days.
