Rahul Gandhi, MP from Rae Bareli and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, is on a tour of his parliamentary constituency today (August 20). Politics in the district has heated up over this. Though Rahul will participate in many programs, one of his programs is also in Pichhwariya village of Nasirabad police station area. This is the same village where a Dalit youth was shot dead recently, which led to a lot of uproar. Rahul is now going to the house of the deceased, where he will meet the victim’s family and console them.
It is worth noting that due to this murder, the situation became such that Dalit organizations and upper caste organizations came face to face. The atmosphere became very tense. The matter was settled with great difficulty after the police officers explained. Earlier, the leaders, workers and local people of the Dalit organization protested fiercely outside the DM office. They are adamant on the arrest of a person named Vishal Singh. They allege that Vishal (Block Pramukh representative) is the main accused in this murder.
However, the police Arjun Pasi murder case 6 accused have been arrested and sent to jail. Police says that action will be taken against whoever’s name comes up on the basis of investigation. At present, Vishal has not been arrested. In this case, delegations of SP and Congress have met the victim’s family.
At the same time, the people of the upper caste organization took to the streets because they believe that Vishal Singh is being forcibly implicated in this case. The people of the organization gave a memorandum to the officials and said that if an innocent person is sent to jail under pressure, then they will also be forced to protest. In such a situation, the whole matter seems to be Dalit versus upper caste.
It is being told that Arjun Pasi had a dispute with a youth named Naveen Singh in Pichwaria Bhuwalpur Sisni village of Nasirabad police station area of Raebareli. There was also a fight between the two. It is alleged that after this, Arjun was shot dead in public on the afternoon of 11 August.
The case of this murder is continuously gaining momentum. First there was a protest at the local level. People associated with the Dalit organization surrounded the police station. After this, they came to the district headquarters and sat on a dharna outside the DM office. Thousands of people sat outside the office throughout the night and demanded action against the murderers. The SP himself had to come to the protest site to convince them. After which the protest ended.
However, now politics has also intensified in this matter. Delegations of different parties are meeting the family of the deceased and demanding justice. Representatives of SP and Congress have also met the family of the deceased. Activists of Bhim Sena and other Dalit organizations are protesting.
Overall, the case of shooting and killing of Dalit youth Arjun in Raebareli has now taken a political turn. However, the police have arrested 6 accused so far. But people demanding the arrest of the alleged main accused Vishal Singh are angry with the police. They are adamant about Vishal’s arrest.
