Rahul Gandhi On Dibrugarh train accident: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has targeted the Central Government over the Dibrugarh rail accident. Expressing concern over the train accident in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, Rahul said on Thursday that the government should place before the country its strategy for the safety of passengers and prevention of accidents. Eight coaches of a train going from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh derailed between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. Three passengers died and 32 others were injured in this incident.

Rahul Gandhi posted on Twitter: “The news of the death of many passengers due to the derailment of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh is extremely sad. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and hope for the speedy recovery of the injured. I request Congress workers to provide all possible assistance in relief and rescue efforts.”

Said- result of government’s mismanagement and neglect

He alleged that the frequent rail accidents are extremely worrying and are the result of the government’s mismanagement and negligence. He said that the discussion with the loco pilots a few days ago and the Railway Safety Commissioner’s report on the recent train accidents also make this clear. Rahul Gandhi said that the government should immediately take full responsibility for this and tell the country its strategy for the safety of passengers and prevention of accidents.

Met loco pilots and railway employees

Three killed, 32 injured in the accident

Eight coaches of a train travelling from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh derailed between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. Three passengers were killed and 32 others injured in the incident. North Eastern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Pankaj Kumar Singh said that eight coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Weekly Express train derailed between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations on the Gonda-Gorakhpur rail section in the afternoon. An official told reporters that the train driver heard a loud bang before the coaches derailed. But, he did not elaborate.

Initially there was doubt about the death figures

According to a statement issued by the Relief Commissioner’s office, Saroj Kumar Singh (31), a resident of Araria in Bihar, Rahul (38) from Chandigarh and another person, who has not been identified, died in the accident. Six people were seriously injured in the accident while 26 suffered minor injuries. Initially, there was confusion about the number of dead. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak had told PTI-Bhasha that four people were killed in the accident. District Magistrate Neha Sharma also told the same number to reporters, but about five hours after the accident, officials revised the figures and Sharma said that only one person had died.
