During the discussion on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi stood up to speak. Rahul showed a picture of Lord Shankar and then while addressing the ruling party, he said something about ‘Hindu’ that PM Modi stood up and objected to. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla objected to Rahul Gandhi showing a picture of Lord Shiva in the House and cited the rules saying that doing so is wrong. Gandhi also targeted the BJP and alleged that the party was attacking the Constitution.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday objected to Rahul Gandhi’s display of a picture of Lord Shiva in the House after the latter attacked the BJP, saying Hinduism does not mean spreading fear, hatred and lies.
His remarks came during a discussion on the motion of thanks on the President’s address in a joint session of Parliament. Gandhi said, “Hinduism cannot spread fear and hatred, while the BJP does the same.” The Congress leader also said that all religions talk of courage and cited Islam and Sikhism to emphasise that one should be fearless.
Meanwhile, objecting to Gandhi displaying the picture of Lord Shiva, the Speaker said, ‘Rules do not allow display of placards.’

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘All our great men have talked about non-violence and ending fear. But, those who call themselves Hindus only talk about violence, hatred and untruth.’ He said, ‘You are not a Hindu’

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks were interrupted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was present in the House. Prime Minister Modi said, “Calling the entire Hindu society violent is a serious issue.” Replying to the Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi said, “The BJP and Prime Minister Modi are not the entire Hindu society.” Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi also accused the BJP of systematically attacking the Constitution and the basic idea of India, saying that millions of people have opposed the ideas proposed by the ruling party.

Rahul Gandhi said, ‘I was attacked on the orders of Prime Minister Modi. More than 20 cases were registered against me, my house was snatched, the Enforcement Directorate questioned me for 55 hours.’ Despite these challenges, the MP from Rae Bareli expressed pride in the collective effort to protect the Constitution. He said, ‘I feel good that BJP people are now repeating ‘Jai Samvidhaan’ after me.’ Rahul Gandhi also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that he talks directly to God.
