Congress’ Manipur unit president K. Meghachandra said that Rahul Gandhi will fly from Delhi to Silchar and from there will go to Jiribam district, where fresh violence took place on June 6. This will be Rahul Gandhi’s third visit to Manipur after the violence started. He had visited Manipur in May last year, just a few weeks after the violence started. Earlier this year, he had also taken out the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur.

Rahul Gandhi will visit relief camps

K Meghchandra said that Rahul Gandhi will visit some relief camps in the district. He will then return to Silchar airport and from there fly to Imphal. He said that after landing in Imphal, Rahul will reach Churachandpur district and interact with the people living in relief camps. He said that from Churachandpur, Rahul Gandhi will reach Moirang in Bishnupur district by road and visit some relief camps. After this he will return to Imphal, where his meeting with Governor Anusuiya Uikey is being planned. Meghchandra said that after this he will leave the state.

First visit to Manipur after Lok Sabha elections

This is Rahul’s first visit to Manipur after the Lok Sabha elections, where Congress has won both the parliamentary seats. Congress Legislature Party leader O. Ibobi Singh said, Gandhi has visited the state twice since the violence broke out on May 3 last year. He visited relief camps to know about the pain and suffering of the people. Let us tell you, Rahul Gandhi and Congress have been continuously attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting Manipur. On July 1, while initiating the discussion on behalf of the opposition in the Lok Sabha on the motion of thanks brought on the President’s address, he had alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government has pushed Manipur into civil war with its policies and politics.
