Radioactive Californium worth crores found with smugglers, this material is used in nuclear reactor

In Gopalganj district of Bihar, police have arrested three smugglers, who have 50 grams of radioactive material worth crores of rupees. It is used in nuclear reactor. After getting information about this matter, there was a stir in the entire department. Gopalganj police has informed the officials of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) about this.

According to the agency, the police in Gopalganj received information from an informer, after which three people were arrested from Balthari area in Kuchaykot police station area. When they were interrogated and searched, 50 grams of radioactive substance ‘Californium’ was found with them. Four mobile phones were also recovered from them. The police said in a statement that forensic experts have been called to investigate Californium. A senior police officer said that this radioactive substance is used to start nuclear reactors, in coal power plants, for cancer treatment and for oil drilling.

In a press release issued by the SP regarding this matter, it has been said that 3 smugglers have been arrested with 50 grams of suspected Californium radioactive material. Based on a secret information, Kuchaykot police station, DIU team, SOG-7 and STF raided the Balthari check post.

When the three accused were searched, 50 grams of suspected Californium (a valuable radioactive substance) was found. The police have registered a case against the three accused and started action.

Department of Atmoic Energy has also been informed. The arrested accused include Chhotalal Prasad resident of Kushinagar UP, Chandan Gupta resident of Gopalganj Bihar and Chandan Ram resident of Gopalganj Bihar. Four mobiles and a bike have been seized from them along with suspicious Californium.
