Sindhu won silver in Rio Olympics and bronze in Tokyo Olympics. If she manages to reach the podium in Paris Olympics, then she will become the first Indian player to complete a hat-trick of medals.

Sindhu will face competition from these shuttlers

Sindhu’s first big challenge will come in the Round of 16, when she will face China’s He Bingjiao, her opponent in the Tokyo Olympics bronze medal match. Bingjiao was easily defeated by Sindhu 21-13, 21-15 in that match. However, Bingjiao won her previous match against Sindhu in the 2022 Asian Games. Talking about head to head, Bingjiao has a record of 11-9 against Sindhu. If Sindhu defeats Bingjiao and reaches the quarter-finals, then Chinese player Chen Yufei (unless there is a major upset) will face her.

The Indian superstar has not lost a match to any Chinese shuttler at the Olympics and World Championships, but Yufei is in great form. The reigning Olympic champion won the Indonesia Open earlier this month, defeating world number-1 An Seung in the final.

Sindhu and Yufei have won 6-6 matches against each other so far. In the semi-finals, Sindhu may face Spanish legend Carolina Marin, who has always been her strong rival. Sindhu’s record against Marin is not good, in which she is behind 5-12. This same Marin defeated Sindhu in the final of the 2016 Olympics.
