Pushkar Mandir: This is the only temple of Brahma Ji in the whole of India, know its story

Pushkar Temple: There are many temples of Vishnu and Shiva in our country. But, do you know that there is only one temple of Brahma in the whole of India. This temple of Brahma is located in Pushkar, Rajasthan, which is known as Brahma Temple. Brahma is known as the creator of the universe. So let’s know why this is the only temple of Brahma in the whole of India and what is the story behind it.

Story of Pushkar Temple

According to Padma Purana, once a demon named Vajranash was creating havoc on earth. His atrocities had increased so much that Brahma ji had to kill him out of frustration. When he was killing him, a lotus flower fell from Brahma ji’s hands at three places on earth. Wherever three lotus flowers fell, three lakes were formed there. One of those places was named Pushkar. Then for the welfare of the world, Brahma ji decided to perform a yagya here.

Brahma ji reached Pushkar to perform the yagya. It was necessary for his wife to attend the yagya, but Savitri was late in reaching there. The auspicious time for the puja was passing. All the gods and goddesses reached the yagya site one by one. But there was no trace of Savitri.

It is said that when the auspicious time started passing, Brahma, seeing no other solution, manifested Gayatri from the mouth of Nandini cow and completed his yagya by marrying her. On the other hand, when Savitri reached the yagya place, she got angry seeing Gayatri sitting next to Brahma and she cursed Brahma. Savitri’s anger did not calm down even after this. She also cursed the Brahmin who performed the marriage that no matter how much donation he gets, the Brahmin will never be satisfied. She cursed the cow to eat dirt in Kaliyug and Narada to remain a bachelor for life. Even Agnidev could not escape Savitri’s wrath. He too was cursed to be insulted in Kaliyug.

Everyone requested Mata Savitri to take back this curse. But she did not. When her anger subsided, Savitri said that on this earth you will be worshipped only in Pushkar. If someone else builds your temple, that temple will be destroyed. Vishnu ji also helped Brahma ji in this task. Due to this, Goddess Saraswati also cursed Vishnu ji that he will have to bear the pain of separation from his wife. Due to this, Vishnu ji took the incarnation of Shri Ram and during the 14 years of exile, he had to stay away from his wife.
