Public outrage on the streets, government’s ultimatum… Protests will be held today against the Kolkata incident

The capital of West Bengal, Kolkata, has been turned into a cantonment. The reason is the students’ agitation. Today, the student and workers’ organization took out a protest march to the Mamata government’s secretariat against the brutality done to the female doctor in RG Kar Medical College on the night of August 8-9. To stop this, unprecedented fortifications were made in West Bengal today. As if those raising their voice against the Mamata government on the issue of women’s safety were not protesters but intruders from another country. But to stop the anger of the common people, such a protest was seen on the streets of Kolkata today against every government barricade, which was perhaps not seen in the last several years.

Such a spark with the help of which it was decided to stop the flames of anger in West Bengal. But why? Iron cuts iron. But in West Bengal, iron was seen being joined with iron on Monday morning to stop the anger of the people. But when the anger of the people comes on the ground, iron does not join but breaks. This is what happened on the streets of Kolkata on Monday afternoon.

When the people boiling with anger against the Mamata government came to protest at Nabanna, the secretariat of the Bengal government. The barricades were pulled and thrown away like a sheet of paper. It was proved that no welding machine is of any use in front of the public’s anger.

A force of 6 thousand deployed in three layers on 7 routes

The Bengal government worked so hard to stop this outrage of the students. To stop the protesters from going to Nabanna, a force of 6 thousand was deployed in three layers on 7 routes. Barricading was done at 19 points. DCPs were deployed at 21 points. Howrah Bridge was closed. Drones were used for surveillance. The state government was not satisfied with this and the government system, whose intentions the public suspects to be evil, started applying Mobil oil on the barricades to stop the protests of the common people.

Kolkata Police made a total of 126 arrests in the Nabanna operation [पुरुष 103+ महिला 23] During this, 15 policemen were also injured.

All the planning of the government was left in vain

But all the strategies went in vain when West Bengal Student Society and Sangrami Jautha Manch, an organization of students and workers, took out a march in Kolkata as part of the Nabanna Abhijan March, a campaign to corner the government. The public climbed the same barricades and showed their anger with the tricolour in their hands. Kolkata Police kept putting Mobil Oil on them to prevent them from climbing.

Was one out of every 100 policemen in West Bengal deployed today only to stop the protest going to Mamata government’s office in Kolkata? Understand this from this statistic

6 percent of the state police was deployed just to stop the students

By October 2022, the total population of West Bengal was about 9 crore 88 lakhs. There are a total of 99 thousand 997 personnel in Bengal Police. That is, in Bengal, one policeman is responsible for the safety of 989 common people. Today, 6 thousand policemen were deployed to stop the students’ protest. These 6 thousand policemen are responsible for the safety of 59.34 lakh people of Bengal and these 6 thousand policemen are 6 percent of the total personnel of West Bengal. That is, today six percent of the policemen of West Bengal were deployed in the capital only to stop the protest.

In such a situation, the question is that when the CBI is investigating the medical college rape and murder case, then why is there anger against the Bengal government now? To know the answer to this question, remember Monday. On Monday, God knows how many tear gas shells were fired within three hours. The students’ protest continued for about three hours in Kolkata on Monday afternoon. Those who witnessed it say that so much police and fortification was never seen in stopping any protest.

What did the police not do to stop the public’s anger? They were even dragged on the ground to take them into custody. They were dragged as if they were rioters. They had no weapons in their hands. Yet the police dragged them and made them lie down on the ground, as if they had become a big threat. The anger of the common man was dragged like this in Kolkata because these protesters crossed the container wall of Kolkata Police and kept moving forward with their anger.

How containers were placed to block the road leading to Nabanna, the main office of Mamata government. Those containers which became a part of the three-layer security wall. You can understand it well in this video. Where the iron barricade is in the front. Then there is the bamboo barricade and then the container, which the police believed that the students and workers of Bengal will not be able to cross.

Mamata, who staged the protest herself, gave an ultimatum to other parties

Mamata Banerjee herself protests. But when other student organisations or political parties come out to protest, they either have to go to the Calcutta High Court to get permission or face charges of disturbing peace and go into custody. After this, when the BJP announced a 12-hour Bengal bandh tomorrow against the action taken against the students, the Mamata government has given an ultimatum.

Against BJP’s Bengal bandh, Mamata government said that there will be no bandh. West Bengal government has directed that the state government’s own offices and all government-funded offices will remain open tomorrow. It is possible that you will say that this is true, if a party announces a bandh then why would the state government support it. But now look at the next point where the West Bengal government says that no government employee can take casual leave tomorrow. Mamata government says that tomorrow i.e. on 28th August, no government employee can take half day of any time, first half or second half.

No employee will take leave

The instructions of Mamata government have come today that unless there is some emergency or medical reason, the employees will not get any leave tomorrow. It is also written further that the employees who were on leave today on 27th August, will report to the office tomorrow i.e. on 28th August. Apart from this, the Bengal government has said that if any employee takes leave tomorrow, then the officers of the concerned department will issue a show cause notice against him. If the employee does not reply to the show cause notice for taking leave tomorrow, then the Bengal government says that action will be taken against him.

TMC is calling the protesters goons

Mamata, who once raised her voice for the welfare of women, is now seen controlling the protesters in Bengal. TMC MP Sayani Ghosh tweeted that the protesters look like goons. She wrote that a picnic-like demonstration is being carried out while bathing with water cannons.

Now it is the state government’s job to oppose this bandh. But what does the strict instructions given to the state government employees against the bandh indicate? The employees of the Bengal government cannot even take a leave on Wednesday, because the BJP has called for a bandh. And the government does not want that the anger that has now reached the streets in the form of students, should grow inside the government offices as well.

History is witness that anger is never handled by police lathi, police barricades and tear gas. The common man does not come out on the streets willingly. The public wants the police to fulfill its responsibility. There should be respect for the law. FIRs should be registered on time. There should never be any cover-up in the investigation. Governments should not just keep talking about providing justice, but should also be seen trying to provide justice. But does this happen? It does not happen, that is why it was known that a total of 123 fast track courts were started in West Bengal, but most of them are closed. So the need is not to suppress the anger but to take steps to prevent anger from arising at all.
