Protest in Delhi, alliance in Haryana… What is the strategy of AAP-Congress for the assembly elections of two states?

While the possibilities of alliance between AAP and Congress are being explored in the upcoming assembly elections of Haryana, in Delhi both the parties have made it clear that there will be no alliance in the assembly elections. After the results of the Lok Sabha elections came on June 4, Congress and AAP in Delhi had announced that both the parties will contest separately for the Delhi assembly elections. Since then, Delhi Congress has started cornering the Aam Aadmi Party on civic issues, in which the issue of corruption is also prominent. However, the top leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party are silent on this, and are not making any statement on this matter.

Possibility of alliance in Delhi?
The possibility of an alliance between AAP and Congress in Delhi seems very unlikely at the moment. Both parties have already publicly announced that they will contest the elections separately.

Displeased with the AAP-Congress alliance in Delhi in the 2024 general elections, the then Delhi Congress President Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The displeasure of Delhi Congress came to the fore on many occasions, but the current president Devendra Yadav has made it clear that there will be no alliance with AAP in Delhi.

Even though Aam Aadmi Party and Congress fought the Lok Sabha elections together under the India Alliance, BJP made a clean sweep in all seven seats in Delhi. Meanwhile, Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav has once again made it clear that Congress will fight the assembly elections alone. The Congress party is reaching out to the people of Delhi on issues like waterlogging, deaths due to electrocution, and increase in electricity rates, and raising voice against corruption. Now less than six months are left for the assembly elections in 2025, and Congress is planning to enter the fray with full preparation.
