Nilesh Rai of Ghazipur, who was preparing for UPSC in Patel Nagar, Delhi, died due to electric shock. He was preparing for the civil service examination for three years and had cleared the prelims in the third attempt. The grandmother of the deceased youth told that he had done B.Tech from Bangalore and was preparing for the exam while staying in Delhi along with his job. The family members of the deceased have demanded action against those responsible for this accident.

Nilesh’s father is a lawyer in Ghazipur, while his mother is a teacher in an inter college. Apart from this, his grandmother is the village head. He was the only son of his parents, while he has two sisters. The elder sister is married, while the younger sister lives in Ghazipur itself. Nilesh was preparing for the civil services examination for about three years by staying in a PG in Patel Nagar.

The young man’s grandmother said that he was very good at studies. He got a job in Delhi after B.Tech and now he was preparing for UPSC along with his job. He had come out of the PG to buy something on Monday afternoon and was going back. Meanwhile, rainwater was accumulated on the road and to avoid the water, he put his hand on the gate of the colony, through which electric current was running. Nilesh then got hit by the electric current. His hand got stuck in the gate, while his feet got into the water. A net of electric wires is visible above the gate where this accident happened. Because of this, the family members are demanding that action be taken against the electricity department employees responsible for this incident.

What did Nilesh’s PG owner say?

Atul Dua, the owner of the PG where Nilesh lived, said that he had been living in the PG for about three years and was preparing for the civil services. He had come out of the PG to buy something when this accident happened. After this incident, many people had gathered, but due to the current, no one had the courage to save him.

Whom did Nilesh’s family blame?

Nilesh’s family has blamed the Delhi government’s electricity department for this incident and has demanded action against the culprits. The family in Ghazipur has said that after the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the father and the last rites were performed at Nigam Bodh Ghat in Delhi. Nilesh’s ashes will be immersed at Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi.

What did Delhi Police say on the incident?

According to news agency PTI, DCP Central Harshvardhan said that after reaching the spot, he saw that the young man’s hand was on the iron gate, while the road was filled with water. The young man was immediately taken to RML Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. A case has been registered in this matter at Ranjit Nagar Police Station and further investigation is being done.
