The police has busted a sex racket running under the guise of a spa centre in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. 20 people, including a woman from Uganda, have been arrested from here. A case has been registered in the Civil Lines police station under various sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. The accused are being interrogated in police custody.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Deepak Bhukar said that Civil Lines and Mahila Thana police conducted a joint operation on the basis of a tip-off late Friday night. In this, several spa centers were raided in P-Square Mall near Civil Lines bus stand. These include Junction Spa Center, New Green Spa Center, Paradise Spa Center and Waves Spa Center.
He said, “During the raid, some women and men were found in objectionable condition, in which a foreign woman of Ugandan origin was also found involved in immoral activities. 13 women and 7 men were arrested from the spot. A case has been registered against all of them in Civil Lines police station under various sections of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
Police have recovered 20 mobile phones, sex stimulant drugs and Rs 8,400 in cash from the spot. Police is collecting information about the passport and visa of the woman of foreign origin. How and in what way she was brought from Uganda to Prayagraj is also being investigated. Information is also being collected about the presence of foreign women in prostitution. Police investigation is ongoing.
