Four people died within a week in Bhadwa Prajapati Basti of Ganganagar Saidabad block of Prayagraj. Villagers claim that people died due to drinking contaminated water from the well. On the complaint of a social worker, the health team reached the spot and started treating the patients.
In Bhadwa village, Sanjana (3), Diwakar (10), Channar Musahar (55) and Mooti Devi (70) died after drinking contaminated water. Former area panchayat member of the village Amarendra Singh alleged that despite complaining to the health department several times, no action was taken. After receiving information about deaths due to contaminated water, a team of the health department arrived. Only then were medicines and ORS solution distributed to the patients.
The series of people falling sick in the village is not stopping. The main source of water in the village is a well. The water is said to be contaminated due to not adding bleaching powder in it. Many people including Satyam, Sundaram, Dilkhush, Deepanshu, Sangeeta, Sintu, Shabbu, Anand, Ritesh, Ranjit, Kusum, Lakshmi, Sanjana, Prakash, Garima, Sanjit, Lalit, Urmila, Jeet Lal, Shiv, Akash and Akanksha are sick due to drinking contaminated water. All of them are undergoing treatment in private hospitals of Prayagraj.

CMO Dr. Ashu Pandey says that we received information that some people drank contaminated water from a well. After this, their health deteriorated. Perhaps two children have died after drinking water. Some children have also fallen ill. A team of the health department has been sent there. There is information about the death of two more people, but it has not been confirmed yet how they died. At present, it is also being ascertained whether there is a facility of safe drinking water in that village or not.
Digvijay Singh, Deputy District Magistrate, Handia, said that the team of Health Department and Revenue Department has reached the spot. We have investigated, people were sick for the last 15 days. People fell sick because of the drinking water that the villagers had consumed. Four people have died in the last few days. The villagers have performed their last rites.
