Hockey players welcomed at Delhi airport: The biggest Maha Kumbh of sports, Olympic Games, was held in Paris this time. Paris Olympics 2024 started on 26 August and then concluded on 11 August. India won 6 medals in Paris Olympics, which included 1 silver and 5 bronze. After the end of Paris Olympics, the process of Indian players returning home continues.

These Indian players including Sreejesh returned home

Hockey veteran PR Sreejesh also returned to India on 13 August (Tuesday). Apart from Sreejesh, hockey players Amit Rohidas, Sumit, Raj Kumar Pal, Abhishek, Sukhjeet Singh, Sanjay were also spotted at the airport. The players were given a warm welcome at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. People were also seen celebrating to the beat of dhol. Earlier on 11 August, the players of the Indian hockey team from Punjab returned to Amritsar.

The Indian men’s hockey team won the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics 2024. India defeated Spain 2-1 in the bronze medal match played on 8 August. Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh played an important role in the memorable performance of the Indian team. Veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, playing his last tournament, kept protecting the Indian goal like a rock throughout the tournament. PR Sreejesh and Manu Bhaker were the Indian flag bearers for the ‘Parade of Nations’ in the closing ceremony.

PR Sreejesh had already announced that the Paris Olympics was going to be his last tournament. This was the fourth Olympics for Sreejesh, who played 336 matches for India. 36-year-old Sreejesh, who has played in the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and World Cup, also played an important role in getting India a bronze medal with his brilliant goalkeeping in the Tokyo Olympics held in 2021. Now his magic worked in front of the goalpost in Paris too.

India’s medals in Paris Olympics

Manu Bhaker won the first medal in Paris Olympics, bronze in 10 meter air pistol. Then the pair of Manu Bhaker-Sarabjot Singh won the bronze medal in the 10 meter air pistol mixed team event. After this, Swapnil Kusale won the bronze medal in Men’s 50 meter rifle three position.

The Indian hockey team won the bronze medal and gave India its fourth medal. After this Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal in javelin throw. Wrestler Aman Sehrawat won the sixth medal by winning the bronze medal in 57 kg wrestling.
