The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has taken action against trainee IAS Pooja Khedkar and cancelled her provisional candidature. Apart from this, Khedkar has been barred from appearing in any future examination. On the basis of investigation of all the documents of Khedkar, UPSC found Khedkar guilty of violating the CSE-2022 rules.
UPSC had already indicated this action. Recently UPSC had issued a show cause notice against Pooja Khedkar. In this notice, it was asked why Pooja Khedkar’s candidature for Civil Services Examination-2022 should not be cancelled. UPSC had also lodged an FIR in this regard.
15 years of records were searched
To investigate the Pooja Khedkar case, UPSC reviewed the data of the last 15 years. After this, it came to light that Khedkar’s was the only case in which it could not be ascertained how many times Khedkar had given the UPSC exam. Because every time he had changed not only his name but also the name of his parents. Now to prevent this from happening in the future, UPSC is preparing to strengthen the SOP further.

What did UPSC say on false certificates?
On the question of submission of false certificates (especially OBC and PwBD categories), UPSC clarified that it only conducts a preliminary check of the certificates. It is checked whether the certificate has been issued by the competent authority or not. Only basic things like the date of the certificate are checked. UPSC clarified that it has neither the authority nor the means to check the authenticity of thousands of certificates submitted by the candidates.

How Pooja Khedkar came into limelight
Actually, Pooja Khedkar came into the news for her hobbies and facilities. Pooja Khedkar was accused that as a trainee IAS officer, she demanded facilities which she was not entitled to. Apart from this, she is also accused of occupying the chamber of a senior officer. It is said that Pooja Khedkar got a red light and ‘Maharashtra Government’ plate installed in her personal Audi car.
After this, when the matter was investigated, it was found that she had also used fake documents to get selected in UPSC. After this, an investigation was launched against her. She was transferred. Many allegations were also made against her parents. A video of Pooja’s mother waving a pistol also went viral.
