Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has demanded the removal of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman from the cabinet. He said that a finance minister who does not have a basic understanding of the budget can be very dangerous. Siddaramaiah has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately remove Sitharaman from the cabinet. He said that keeping Sitharaman as the finance minister can be very dangerous. Trusting a minister who lacks basic understanding can be dangerous.
Siddaramaiah criticized the Finance Minister during the press conference and said that she tried to hide the injustice done to Karnataka by the Modi government. He said that Nirmala Sitharaman’s misleading statements show that the central government has provided minimal assistance to Karnataka.
Siddaramaiah said that according to Nirmala Sitharaman, the previous UPA government (2004-2014) had given an amount of Rs 60,779 crore to Karnataka while the NDA government (2024-2024) has given an amount of Rs 2,36,955 crore. However, she forgot to tell how much the budget of the central government has increased in the last ten years. In such a situation, the question arises whether this was done due to ignorance or deliberately to mislead the people.

Let us tell you that in 2013-2014, the budget of the central government was Rs 16.06 lakh crore. At that time, the government had allocated Rs 16,428 crore for Karnataka while Rs 15,005 crore was received as tax share, which was Rs 31,483 crore and it was 1.9 percent of the total budget.
Similarly, the budget size of the central government in 2024-25 is Rs 48.20 lakh crore. During this period, Karnataka will get Rs 15,229 crore as grants and Rs 44,485 crore as tax share, which is 1.2 percent of the total budget. If Karnataka had got the same 1.9 percent share as in 2013-14, the state would have got Rs 91,580 crore. Due to this discriminatory attitude of the Narendra Modi government, Karnataka suffered a loss of Rs 31,866 crore in 2024-2025.
The report said that Finance Minister Sitharaman has made misleading statements claiming an increase in Karnataka’s tax share from the central government. According to her, Karnataka received Rs 81,791 crore during the UPA government and Rs 2.9 lakh crore during the NDA government (2014-2024).
