India’s performance in the Paris Olympic Games was mixed. India won a total of six medals including one silver and five bronze medals in these recently concluded games. A 117-member Indian team had gone to Paris for the Olympic Games, most of the athletes have returned. After returning home, the Indian players were given a warm welcome. The Indian players met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on 15 August (Thursday). The entire video of that meeting has surfaced.

During the meeting with the players, the PM praised their spirit and performance. PM Modi addressed the members of the Indian team. PM Modi also mentioned Vinesh Phogat during his speech. The PM said that Vinesh made history by reaching there. Vinesh Phogat reached the final of the women’s 50 kg freestyle wrestling event. However, she was disqualified. The PM said, ‘Vinesh became the first Indian to reach the final in wrestling. This is also a matter of pride for us. Indian shooters reached the finals in 7 shooting events in the Olympics. This has also happened for the first time.

Let us tell you that some Indian players have not yet returned home. Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is in Germany, where he is to undergo surgery. Vinesh Phogat will return to India on August 17. Badminton player PV Sindhu also did not participate in this event. Sindhu missed out on a historic hat-trick of medals by losing in the Round of 16 during the Paris Olympics.

India got its first medal in shooting in Paris Olympics 2024, when Manu Bhaker won bronze in Women’s 10m Air Pistol. Then Manu Bhaker also won the second bronze in the mixed team event. Sarabjot Singh was also in the team with her. The third bronze medal was won by Swapnil Kusale in Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Position shooting. Then the men’s hockey team won bronze and javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal. After this, wrestler Aman Sehrawat won bronze in Men’s 57 kg freestyle.
