Personal Law Board and Jamiat have objections on Waqf Bill, they are meeting JPC members and pointing out its flaws

On the special instructions of President Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind Maulana Arshad Madani, members of Jamiat Ulama are continuously meeting the leaders of all opposition parties and members of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024. During these meetings, Jamiat members are also trying to point out the harmful amendments in this bill and what harmful effects it can have on Muslims in case the bill is passed. How Muslims can be deprived of their Waqf properties under the guise of such a law.

These meetings are going on at both the national and state levels. In this regard, a delegation of Jamiat Ulama Maharashtra recently met NCP leader Balya Mama Mahatre and Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant, who are members of the JPC, in Mumbai. A joint delegation of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind is also meeting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. In other states including Bihar, members of Jamiat Ulama are meeting the leaders of political parties and members of the JPC and telling them about the flaws of the proposed bill and its harmful sections.

Expressing his reaction on this entire issue, Maulana Arshad Madani said that the details of the amendments that have come out have turned our apprehension into certainty that the government’s intentions regarding Waqf are not right. The new bill that has been brought in the name of amendment is not aimed at protecting Waqf property but to deprive Muslims of this great heritage that their ancestors have left for the upliftment and welfare of poor, helpless and needy Muslims. He said that this bill is a blatant interference in our religious matters and a big conspiracy.

He further said that Muslims can bear any kind of loss but can never tolerate interference in their Sharia. Secondly, this bill is also an attack on the constitutional rights given to Muslims. The Constitution of the country has given every citizen the right to follow his religious beliefs and rules freely along with religious freedom. The present government wants to snatch away this religious freedom given in the Constitution by making various types of laws.
