Pauly Shore Left ‘Up All Night Crying’ After Richard Simmons Snubs His Casting

Pauly Shore was left devastated after fitness icon Richard Simmons voiced his disapproval of Shore playing him in an upcoming biopic. In an emotional Instagram post, Shore revealed he was “up all night crying” over Simmons’ rejection of his casting.

“Richard, why the disapproval for this film?” Shore pleaded in his post. “I mean, truly, who could portray you more accurately than ME?” Shore argued that he was the perfect fit for the role, as the world already perceives them as one and the same.

The biopic, written by Jordan Allen-Dutton, is currently in development at Warner Bros. subsidiary The Wolper Organization. Shore previously portrayed Simmons in the short film The Court Jester, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year.

However, the reclusive Simmons has been vocal about his opposition to Shore’s casting, stating through his publicist that the biopic “does not have my endorsement.”He suggested that major studios are interested in involving him in the production of his own story, and questioned who should portray him – perhaps Tom Cruise.

In his heartfelt message to Simmons, Shore offered to bring the fitness guru a “pastrami sandwich smothered in dark mustard from Canters” to discuss the project in person. He pledged that the film would honor Simmons in a manner that would leave him “in awe and elation.”

Sadly, Simmons passed away at the age of 76 just months after the biopic controversy. In a tribute post, Shore expressed his sadness over the news, wishing Simmons peace and describing him as a unique individual with an extraordinary life and narrative.

The entertainment industry has been reflecting on Simmons’ remarkable legacy and the positive impact he had on many lives[5]. While the biopic’s future remains uncertain, Pauly Shore’s emotional response highlights the deep admiration and respect he had for Richard Simmons.
