Parliament’s budget session will begin from today, PM Modi will address the media

The budget session of Parliament begins today.

New Delhi: The budget session of Parliament is going to start today i.e. 22 July (Monday). This second Parliament session of the third term of the Modi government is likely to last till August 12. The session will have 16 meetings during a period of 22 days. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the media at around 10 am in the Parliament House complex on Monday before the proceedings of both the Houses of Parliament begin.

PM Modi can seek cooperation from political parties

It is believed that Prime Minister Modi, while saying that the budget session of Parliament is important, can appeal to all political parties to discuss the budget in the House and let the proceedings of the House run smoothly. Earlier, in the all-party meeting called on Sunday regarding the budget session of Parliament, the government had also sought cooperation from all political parties for the smooth functioning of the Parliament.

Rajnath Singh gave this advice to the opposition parties

While chairing the all-party meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also advised the opposition parties to be ready to discuss all issues with an open heart. He said that the ruckus and disruption caused by the opposition parties in both the houses – Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha – during the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last session was not appropriate for parliamentary tradition.

Concluding the meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh thanked all the leaders for drawing attention to the important issues raised in the meeting and said that these issues will be taken care of. He also said that we should maintain the sanctity of Parliament during the proceedings. The government is ready to discuss all these issues subject to the rules of the respective Houses of Parliament and the decisions of the respective presiding officers.

55 leaders of 41 political parties attended the meeting

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had said after the conclusion of the all-party meeting that running the Parliament smoothly is the responsibility of the government as well as the opposition. He said that 55 leaders of 41 political parties, including the BJP, attended the all-party meeting. The leaders also gave many good suggestions regarding the budget session. All political parties put forth their issues in the meeting. The government is always ready to discuss any issue on the floor of the House as permitted by the concerned presiding officers under the rules of procedure and conduct of business.

He also requested the cooperation and support of the leaders of all parties for the smooth functioning of both the Houses of Parliament. He also informed that this session will be mainly devoted to financial business related to the Union Budget for 2024-25, which will be presented in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, July 23. The budget of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for 2024 will also be presented on July 23.

Economic Survey of India will be tabled in Parliament

On the first day of the session, today the Economic Survey of India will be tabled in Parliament. Necessary legislative and other important work will also be done during the session. During the second session of the 18th Lok Sabha and the 265th session of the Rajya Sabha, the government will try to introduce and pass six bills in Parliament, including the Finance (No. 2) Bill- 2024, Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill-2024, Boiler Bill-2024, Indian Aircraft Bill – 2024, Coffee (Promotion and Development) Bill- 2024 and Rubber (Promotion and Development) Bill – 2024.

Along with this, three financial subjects- general discussion on the Union Budget, 2024-25, discussion and voting on the demands for grants for the year 2024-25 and passing of the related Appropriation Bill, as well as discussion and voting on the demands for grants of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for the financial year 2024-25 and introduction, consideration and passing of the related Appropriation Bill are also on the agenda of the government.
