Paris Paralympics 2024: Nishad Kumar showed amazing performance in Paris Paralympics, won silver medal in high jump

The amazing performance of Indian athletes continues in Paris Paralympics 2024. Indian athlete Nishad Kumar has shown amazing performance and won the silver medal in men’s high jump (T47). Nishad made his best jump of this season of 2.04 meters.

With this, India has won its seventh medal in this Paralympics. This is India’s third medal in athletics. Nishad (24) had also won the silver medal in this event in the Tokyo Paralympics three years ago. Roderick Townsend of America finished first in the men’s high jump (T47). He won the gold medal. Townsend also won gold in the Tokyo Paralympics.

Dominance created among 11 players

Nishad performed brilliantly in this competition by dominating among the 11 players. However, Townsend gave his best performance of the season by crossing the mark of 2.12 meters and won the gold medal. Let us tell you that Nishad participated in the Paris Paralympics to further improve his medal from Tokyo. However, American athlete Townsend once again proved to be an obstacle for Nishad.

India’s Ram Pal finished seventh

Meanwhile, another Indian high jumper Ram Pal also performed well (1.95 meters). However, he finished seventh. Before Nishad, Preeti Pal won her second medal (bronze) in athletics at the Paris Paralympics, which was the women’s 200 meters T35 event.

Mother has been a volleyball player

Let us tell you that at the age of six, Nishad had to face a serious accident. Then his right hand was cut off by a grass cutting machine on his family’s farm. Despite this, he proved his talent in sports, especially athletics. For this, he was inspired by his mother, who herself has been a state level volleyball player and discus thrower. Nishad entered para-athletics in 2009.
