Paris Paralympics 2024: India scored four medals in Paris Paralympics… Manish Narwal’s amazing performance in shooting

India has won its fourth medal on the second day of Paris Paralympics 2024 i.e. on 30 August (Friday). Manish Narwal won the silver medal in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol (SH1). Manish Narwal also performed brilliantly in the Tokyo Paralympic Games. Then he won gold in the P4 Mixed 50m Pistol SH-1 event.

Manish scored a total of 234.9 points in the final. South Korea’s Jon Jongdu won the gold medal of this event by scoring 237.4 points. China’s Yang Chao managed to win the bronze medal with 214.3 points. The SH1 category in shooting includes shooters whose arms, lower torso, leg movement is affected or who have a disorder in their hands or feet.

Who is Manish Narwal?

22-year-old Manish Narwal initially wanted to become a footballer. But there were challenges of disability, but these challenges could not deter Manish’s resolve to become an athlete. On the advice of his father and colleagues, Manish decided to make a career in shooting in 2016. Narwal started shooting in Faridabad, Haryana. After this, he never looked back. Narwal has won many national and international competitions.

Manish is a resident of Sonipat. However, his father Dilbagh Singh moved to Faridabad many years ago. Manish won a gold and a bronze medal in the 10m and 50m events at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta. Manish repeated his excellent form at the 2019 World Championships in Sydney. He won bronze medals in three of the events he participated in.
