Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony timing in India: The grand opening of the Maha Kumbh of sports i.e. Olympics is happening from today (26 July). The opening ceremony of Paris 2024 Olympics will be held on the banks of the Seine River. India has sent a team of 117 players to the Paris Olympics. Half of these 117-member team includes players from three sports – athletics (29), shooting (21) and hockey (19). Out of these 69 players, 40 players are participating in the Olympics for the first time.
For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony will not be held inside the stadium. This is the most special thing this time. The Olympics began in Athens in 1896, so this will be the first time in the 128-year history that the traditional parade of the countries participating in these games will take place on the banks of the Seine River, which flows through the middle of Paris.
The opening ceremony will see more than 10,000 Olympic athletes travel on around 100 boats through the Seine River, passing some of Paris’ iconic landmarks, including Notre Dame, Pont des Arts, Pont Neuf.
The floating parade will start from the Austerlitz bridge next to the Jardin des Plantes and end at the Trocadero, where the Olympic ceremonies will be the final show. The event is scheduled to last more than three hours.

PV Sindhu and Sharath Kamal will lead the parade
Two-time Olympic medalist badminton star PV Sindhu and table tennis legend Sharath Kamal, who is set to participate in his fifth Olympics, will lead the Indian team in the Olympics. Both these players will be the first players from their respective sports to become India’s flag bearer in the Olympic opening ceremony.
Dress of Indian players in Paris Olympics
In the opening ceremony of Paris Olympics, Indian male players will wear kurta bandi sets while female players will wear matching sarees depicting the tricolour flag of India. The dresses with traditional ikat inspired prints and Banarasi brocade have been designed by Tarun Tahiliani.
India won 7 medals in Tokyo Olympics
India won a total of 7 medals in the Tokyo Olympics, which is its best performance in the history of the Olympic Games. This also includes the first athletics gold of Indian player Neeraj Chopra. A total of 112 athletes from the country will participate in 69 medal events in 16 sports in Paris. Five reserve athletes will also be in Paris. India has won a total of 35 medals in the Olympic Games so far. Of these, only shooters Abhinav Bindra (2008) and Neeraj Chopra (2021) have won individual gold medals.

The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics will start at 11:00 pm Indian time in India. It will be broadcast on Sports18 1 SD and Sports18 1 HD TV channels in India. Live streaming of the Paris Olympics will be available for free on Jio Cinema.
