Panic due to bomb threat in Somnath Express, fake caller arrested from Bengal

The police received an anonymous call regarding the Somnath Express running between Jammu and Rajasthan. The caller claimed that a bomb was placed in the train. Due to this, the train was stopped in Ferozepur for 6 hours.

Let us tell you that after receiving the call, the train was stopped at Kasu Begu railway station at 7.42 am and all the passengers were taken out, which later turned out to be a fake call. Later, after the information shared by Punjab Police, West Bengal Police caught the fake caller in South 24 Parganas district.

Somnath Express runs between Jammu Tawi in Jammu and Kashmir and Bhagat Ki Kothi in Rajasthan.

According to PTI, the police control room received a call claiming that there was a bomb in the Somnath Express, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Saumya Mishra said, adding that soon after, the train was stopped at Kasu Begu railway station, around 10 km from Ferozepur. The area was cordoned off and passengers were evacuated, she said.

Later, the police deployed four teams of the dog squad. Police teams from neighbouring districts including Moga and Faridkot were also called in for the search operation and the bomb disposal squad was also called in to assist in the search operation.

Police said an ambulance and a fire brigade were also deployed. Officials said the train was halted at Kasu Begu railway station for about six hours due to the inspection drive and finally left at 1.55 pm after getting security clearance from various security agencies.
