Green Bay backup quarterback Malik Willis — who joined the team in late August — replaced Love for the final two plays. He threw an incomplete pass and was sacked to end the game.
Love was 17-for-34 passing for 260 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the loss.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur, asked after the game about the severity of Love’s injury, said, “I don’t know.”
Wide receiver Christian Watson tried to be optimistic, saying, “Whatever it is, I know he’s going to get through this. We’re going to get through it. “
Love signed a four-year, $220 million contract in July to stay with the Packers through the 2028 season. According to ESPN, the deal includes a record $75 million signing bonus and $155 million in new full guarantees.
Love, who played sparingly his first two seasons in Green Bay, had success last year in his first full season as a starter.
The 25-year-old started all 17 games last season, throwing for 4,159 yards with 32 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 96.1 passer rating. He went 6-2 with 18 touchdowns and only one interception in the final eight games to lead the Packers to the postseason.
