Oregon nurse’s remains found after 3-day search, neighbor arrested

A missing Oregon nurse’s remains have been found and her neighbor arrested after a three-day search, Beaverton police say. said in a social media post.

When 32-year-old Melissa Juben didn’t report for her morning shift at St. Vincent’s Hospital Portland Earlier this week, her co-workers, friends and neighbors were concerned because the behavior was unusual for the dedicated nurse.

They called police at 10:18 a.m. on September 4 and requested a welfare check. Beaverton officials said they arrived at Juben’s apartment in the Portland suburb a short time later.

Authorities searched the complex and searched for her bank and credit cards but Jube was nowhere to be found. Her phone appeared to be switched off, police said, and efforts to reach her throughout the day were futile.

Police entered her information into the National Missing Person Database. After an intensive three-day investigation, police said, they determined that 27-year-old Bryce Jonathan Schubert was involved in her disappearance. Schubert lives in Beaverton and Jube is a neighbor in his apartment complex.

Police said they arrested Schubert and charged him with murder.

Schubert is being held in the Washington County, Oregon jail on a charge of 2nd-degree murder, according to online records. Police have not released further details about Schubert’s involvement in Juben’s death.

Juben’s remains have been found. The investigation is ongoing.
