One killed in attack by Bangladeshi smugglers on BSF jawans, huge quantity of weapons recovered

On the night of August 11, Bangladeshi smugglers tried to attack BSF jawans on the India-Bangladesh border in Malda district of West Bengal. After the attack, the jawans retaliated and fired at the fleeing smugglers, killing one smuggler. A large quantity of weapons have been recovered after the search. Officials said that the matter is being investigated.

According to the information, the jawan posted on duty at the border post Chandnichak of the 115th battalion saw 5-6 people carrying some goods. When the jawan tried to stop them, the smugglers attacked with sharp weapons. The jawans fired one round at the Bangladeshi smugglers in self-defense. Despite the firing, the smugglers kept moving towards Bangladesh. After this, a smuggler was killed in the firing by the jawans. During the search, 6 bundles of bidi leaves were recovered from the spot and a large quantity of weapons were recovered.

Sources have revealed that the name of the deceased is Abdullah and he is a smuggler who hails from Bangladesh. This smuggler had crossed the security cordon of Bangladesh’s BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) and entered the Indian border illegally to take a consignment of bidi leaves.

This is not the first such incident. Such incidents have been taking place in many border areas of West Bengal. BSF South Bengal Frontier spokesperson AK Arya said that such incidents are not unusual for us. BSF jawans are performing their duties with extraordinary courage and vigilance. Vigilance continues on the borders.
