The business world is also quite excited about the 77th Independence Day on 15 August. Especially after the PM’s appeal for ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, the surge in the sale of flags has given small businessmen a chance to be very happy. Last weekend, the PM changed his DP on social media to the tricolor. The Prime Minister also appealed to the people to do the same and send selfies with the tricolor. The effect of this has been that the sale of the tricolor has increased by 60-70 percent. At some places, the sale of the tricolor has increased by up to 90 percent.

PM Modi’s appeal increased the demand for the tricolor

After the PM’s appeal, people have not only increased the purchase of flags but many people also buy flags in bulk and distribute them, which are now coming in the market in large numbers. This will benefit the artisans and shopkeepers who make flags. Along with flags, many small and big items of tricolor color are also in good demand across the country, which is expected to increase further by 15 August. Although many items of tricolor color are in demand in the market, but there are the most buyers of flags.

Customers are also demanding flags made of fine cloth of their preferred size, these flags are available in the wholesale market for 20 to 30 rupees. However, flags up to 500 rupees are also available in bulk in the market.

The artisans are working in 3 shifts!
Many programs are also organized in schools etc. for Independence Day, in which children take things like balloons, small flags, badges, hand bands, caps etc., due to which these items are also being sold in huge numbers. Flag traders say that due to the increase in demand for the tricolor after the PM’s appeal, artisans are now being made to work in three shifts.

The demand for flags has increased everywhere in the country and now manufacturers are getting demand for flags from abroad as well. Due to the rapid increase in demand for the tricolor in different parts of the country, the tricolor is being sold in large numbers in shops, online platforms and local markets.

Flags worth Rs 500 crore were sold in 2022
The relaxation given by the government in the rules of its manufacture in 2022 also played a big role in increasing the sale of flags. In fact, the government had allowed the manufacture of flags from polyester and machines by changing the flag code in December 2021. Due to this, flags became easily available across the country, whereas earlier the Indian tricolor was allowed to be made only from khadi or cloth. The campaign of Vocal for Local and Atmanirbhar Bharat has also played an important role in increasing the production of the tricolor.

In the year 2022 also, the PM had appealed for the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan, due to which the flag sales business in the country was worth Rs 500 crore that year. During that time, about 30 crore tricolor flags were prepared, which also provided employment to more than 10 lakh people, whereas before this, the annual sale of the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day was limited to about Rs 150-200 crore. The MSME sector contributes more in the manufacture of the tricolor.
