Anjali Birla, who is an IRPS officer (irps officers) and daughter of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, has filed a defamation suit in the Delhi High Court. She seeks the removal of social media posts that falsely alleged that she cleared the UPSC exam in her first attempt due to her father’s influence.
Senior advocate Rajiv Nair presented the petition before Justice Naveen Chawla for an urgent hearing. Justice Chawla allowed urgent hearing of the case today. Anjali Birla has alleged that the claims being made on social media are defamatory and false.
According to media reports, several social media posts alleged that Anjali Birla is a model by profession and it was because of her father’s ‘powerful position’ that she cleared the UPSC exam in her first attempt.
It is claimed that Anjali Birla became an IAS officer because of her father’s ‘powerful position’.
