Olympics: Wrestler Anant Panghal ordered to leave Paris… This allegation was made on his sister

Indian wrestler Antim Panghal’s accreditation to the Paris Olympic Village has been revoked and he has been ordered to leave Paris. The reason behind this is his sister, who was caught by security officials using a fake accreditation card to enter the campus. Antim’s sister Nisha Panghal was briefly detained by the Paris police for her crime, but was later released with a warning on the intervention of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). However, after this incident, the IOA has instructed Antim to leave Paris with his coach, brother and sister.

August 7 was not a good day for Anantham Panghal as her much-awaited Olympic debut at Paris 2024 ended with a first-round loss in the women’s 53kg wrestling competition at the Champ-de-Mars Arena on Wednesday. According to reports, Anantham Panghal had gone to meet her personal coach and sparring partner while she had asked her sister Nisha to get her belongings from the Paris Games Village using her accreditation.

The 19-year-old’s hopes of staying in contention for the bronze medal through the repechage were dashed. Earlier, World Championship bronze medallist Anant, who was one of the first wrestlers to secure an Olympic quota in Vinesh Phogat’s category, lost in the first round in 101 seconds. The Turkish wrestler emerged victorious on the basis of “technical superiority”, where she had a clear lead of 10 points over her Indian opponent.

Zeynep was in complete control as she first pinned Antim for two points, then picked up two more points and then a double flip to get four points. When the referee stopped the bout, she picked up two more points to seal the win, leaving Antim in tears. Antim became the third wrestler from the country to return empty-handed.

What next for the final round?

India’s biggest medal hope in wrestling, Ankit Panghal was eliminated after a humiliating 0-10 defeat to Turkey’s Yetgil Zeynep in the women’s 53kg category. The Olympic quota holder in this category lost in the final 101 seconds. Earlier, Vinesh used to play in this weight category.

The Turkish wrestler was declared the winner on the basis of technical superiority. If Zeynep had qualified for the final, then she would have got a chance to play in the repechage, but this will not happen. Zeynep has lost her match.
