Later, he revealed that he was actually advised to undergo shoulder surgery before the Paris Olympics and was suffering from an illness before the match, Metro reported. “Yes, it was very tough. And I felt bad during the warm-up, but this has happened to me before – and I still got a medal. I had no option to withdraw from the match,” he said.
Dedicating his medal to his late father, he said, ‘He himself had dreamt of reaching the Olympics. He could not succeed due to lack of money. Then he had a dream that one of his children would reach the Olympics and win a medal. Today that dream has come true.’
Today, on the sixth day of Paris Olympics 2024, India is expected to win three more medals. So far, India has won only two medals. Both these medals were bronze, which Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won in shooting. On the sixth day, Indian athletes will participate in 15 events, out of which India has a chance to win medals in two events.
