The issue of the death of students preparing for UPSC due to water logging in the basement of Rao IAS Coaching Center in Old Rajendra Nagar area of Delhi was raised in Parliament. In Rajya Sabha, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi and Aam Aadmi Party MP Swati Maliwal had given notice for discussion under Rule 267. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar did not allow discussion under Rule 267 in the Upper House. He allowed discussion under Rule 176 in the House. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi started the discussion and cornered the Aam Aadmi Party and the Delhi government and said that this is criminal negligence.
Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, in response to each of Sudhanshu Trivedi’s allegations, listed the achievements of the Arvind Kejriwal-led government. Expressing grief over the Old Rajendranagar incident, he said that Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi had held a meeting with the officials and asked them to get the drain cleaned. Sanjay Singh said that action should be taken against those officials who did not take action even on the orders of the ministers.
Referring to the transfer-posting dispute in Delhi, he said that the Supreme Court said that the right to transfer-post officers should be given to the elected government of Delhi. Sanjay Singh said that this order was overturned by introducing a bill in this house. He said that you tied our hands and legs and threw us into the swimming pool to swim. Now you are beating us with sticks and saying increase the numbers, increase the numbers. The Delhi government is not being allowed to work.

The Aam Aadmi Party MP said that these coaching centres and the library in their basements are not running today. They have been running for the last 15 to 20 years and at that time BJP was in power in MCD. The sins they (BJP) have committed in the last 10-15, 15-20 years are the result of them. He alleged that the LG and the officers try to make the lives of the people of Delhi hell. Hurdles are being created in every work. Sanjay Singh said that what is the crime of the people of Delhi, that they made Arvind Kejriwal the Chief Minister.
He criticized the BJP MPs for making fun of Arvind Kejriwal’s illness and said that they clap at death. It is noteworthy that Sudhanshu Trivedi mentioned the statement of Delhi Government ministers about Arvind Kejriwal’s decreasing weight in jail and said that it is not your weight but your character that is declining. Targeting the Delhi Government, he said that a Sheesh Mahal can be built with hundreds of crores but the sewer has not been cleaned. Sudhanshu Trivedi counted the increases in the Aam Aadmi Party Government in comparison to the Congress Government, from the Waqf budget to publicity, and put the Kejriwal Government in the dock.
This is not the death of UPSC students, it is murder – Swati Maliwal
Aam Aadmi Party MP Swati Maliwal called the death of UPSC students a murder and asked who is responsible for this. Is no one accountable? She said that such centres are open in every second house in Rajendra Nagar. If someone’s house is being built and it gets a little bigger, then immediately the MCD people come and start making noise and so many illegal centres are being opened and no one even knows. Swati Maliwal accused of corruption and said that three people of the coaching centre have been caught but what about the elected representatives and officers. She said that it is the responsibility of the Delhi government to give compensation of one crore rupees each to the deceased students.
