Odisha: Doctor beaten up for sexually harassing female patients, admitted in ICU

A doctor accused of sexual harassment has been beaten up in Cuttack, Odisha. It is alleged that he sexually harassed two women. Police said that the family members of the women beat up the doctor on this charge.

The case is of SCB Medical College and Hospital, which is a renowned hospital in Odisha. It is being told that the doctor works in the cardiology department, who sexually assaulted the women on August 11. According to the police, the female patient had gone to the hospital for ECG.

The doctor is admitted in the same hospital

The relatives of the women said that the doctor sexually harassed the patients in the hospital and they beat him up on the charges of the same. It is being said that after the beating, the doctor’s condition is critical and he is admitted in the ICU of the same hospital. The matter came to light when a complaint was lodged in the Mangalabagh police station in the matter.

Case filed against the doctor

Additional Police Commissioner Anil Mishra said that a case was registered against the doctor. In the FIR, the doctor has been accused of sexually assaulting two patients. He said, “The statements of the patients will be recorded for legal action. Both the patients and the accused are admitted in the hospital and their statements will be recorded after they recover.

Ruckus over Kolkata rape-murder

The case of sexual harassment in Cuttack hospital has come to light when there is uproar across the country over the rape-murder of a trainee doctor in a medical hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal. Here, an incident of brutality with a trainee doctor was reported in RG Kar Medical College. The accused is currently in police custody and the case is under investigation.
